Nicola is a Solicitor in our Catastrophic and Serious Injuries team in Leicester. She co-founded Affinity Law in 2008 with a vision to support injured people and to make a difference to people’s lives that have been devastated by all types of injuries. Since then, Nicola has gone on to win hundreds of cases and secured millions of pounds of compensation for her clients, obtaining awards of over £11 million for her clients in 2025 alone. Nicola specialises in high value catastrophic injury and complex brain injury claims and has been approved by the national charity Headway as a specialist Head Injury Solicitor since 2018. Nicola is proud to be recognised as Leicestershire Law Society’s Solicitor of the Year 2017 and Community Champion 2025. Nicola’s clients are at the heart of everything she does, always going above and beyond to get the outcome they deserve, both through compensation and rehabilitation.
Connie joined Affinity Law in June 2016 and has progressed through the ranks before being appointed as a Director of the firm in June 2025. Within her role as a Solicitor, Connie oversees a caseload of complex catastrophic injury claims and she has a particular interest in mild and moderate brain injury claims. Connie’s accolades, which are both impressive and varied, include being named Leicestershire Law Society’s Trainee Solicitor of the Year 2022 and Young Achiever at the Personal Injury Awards 2025. Connie’s interest in catastrophic injury is driven by her genuine passion for making a difference to the lives of people affected by injuries that were no fault of their own. Her caring and understanding nature means that clients trust her to explain the complex litigation process in a manner which they can understand. Connie also dedicates much of her time to Leicester Hotshots, where she sits on the committee, and Headway Leicester, a local brain injury charity for which she is an ambassador.
Dionne, a Senior Litigation Executive, joined Affinity Law in June 2019 and works exclusively in the Catastrophic and Serious Injuries department. Day to day, Dionne’s role involves dealing with high value and complex personal injury claims, supervising a team of junior colleagues and working closely alongside Nicola Kitchener in progressing claims, both litigated and non-litigated. Dionne has over six years of complex litigation experience, including trial experience. Dionne’s proudest achievement is supporting Nicola to obtain a clinical negligence settlement for £11 million, the largest clinical negligence compensation sum secured for an Affinity Law client to date, as well as being named as a finalist for Trainee Solicitor of the Year at the Leicestershire Law Society Awards 2024.
Holly is a dedicated Senior Litigation Executive in the Catastrophic and Serious Injuries team with over 10 years of experience, having begun her career at a Top 50 law firm working in the complex injury department. She joined Affinity Law in 2021 to further her career and continues to deal with exclusively high value and complex personal injury claims, directly supporting Nicola Kitchener. Holly has expertise in the analytical side of complex claims, and her meticulous attention to detail ensures her clients receive the best results.
Abbie joined the firm in July 2025 as a Paralegal in the Catastrophic and Serious Injuries department. Abbie graduated from Nottingham Trent University in July 2024 with a law degree and is now studying for a Masters in Law alongside a preparation course for her Solicitors Qualifying Examination. Within her role, Abbie assists solicitors in the day-to-day management of cases and is responsible for gathering records, preparing chronologies, instructing experts and being a continuous point of contact for clients. Abbie enjoys the fast-paced nature of personal injury work and finds it incredibly rewarding.
Azzam joined our Catastrophic and Serious Injuries department in December 2025 as a Paralegal where he assists solicitors and litigation executives by collecting records, preparing chronologies, drafting legal documentation, instructing experts, liaising with clients and insurers and providing ongoing personal support throughout the lifetime of a claim. Azzam brings with him a number of transferable legal and interpersonal skills having formerly worked as a criminal defence paralegal and within wills and probate. Azzam graduated from De Montfort University in 2025 with a law degree and he is currently completing his LLM in Professional Legal Practice. Azzam chose to pursue a career in personal injury because he says it allows him to make a meaningful and tangible impact on clients’ lives.
Working as a Paralegal, Gemma is responsible for supporting a number of senior fee earners to progress matters by arranging and coordinating clients’ medical appointments, requesting records, preparing chronologies and much more. Gemma takes great pride in the support she provides to the Catastrophic and Serious Injuries department and the service she provides to clients. Gemma joined the firm in July 2025 after working for a number of years in conveyancing where she was able to develop a strong knowledge of legal processes and client care. Gemma loves being part of a team that helps people in their most difficult moments, and being able to build genuine relationships with her clients.
Niamh has worked as a Legal Assistant in the Catastrophic and Serious Injuries since July 2025. Niamh brings with her a wealth of knowledge in dealing with important administrative tasks having formerly worked as an administrative assistant and personal assistant in a debt recovery firm. Her role involves supporting fee earners, specifically Connie Pratt, in daily administration including keeping diaries up to date and ensuring the department’s filing and distribution system runs smoothly.
Stefan joined Affinity Law in July 2025 after graduating from his undergraduate law degree. Within his role as a Catastrophic and Serious Injuries Paralegal, he assists solicitors and litigation executives with a diverse caseload, providing comprehensive support throughout the litigation process. His responsibilities include client communication, instructing medical experts, drafting chronologies and serving as a point of contact for clients, other solicitors and third parties. Stefan takes great pride in the relationships he has built with clients in his short time with the firm as well as his attention to detail in complex personal injury claims.
Alex is the Head of Personal Injury and a Senior Associate Solicitor at Affinity Law. She joined the firm in 2021 having worked in personal injury since 2002. She has extensive expertise in dealing with employers’ liability, occupiers’ liability and product liability claims, as well as experience in dealing with road traffic collisions and clinical negligence claims. Alex’s reviews speak for themselves – she is a dedicated and conscientious professional, committed to achieving results and providing her clients with the best experience possible.
Grace joined Affinity Law in September 2025 after graduating with a law degree from the University of Liverpool. Within her role as a Paralegal in the Personal Injury team, Grace plays a key part in progressing all nature of personal injury claims – this includes handling new enquiries, drafting client care packs, requesting and reviewing medical records and instructing medical experts.
Jules joined Affinity Law in 2011 where she first worked as a Legal Assistant and now as a Paralegal, supporting Alex Burdett in dealing with a wide range of personal injury claims including road traffic collisions, employers’ liability and public liability claims. Jules often undertakes much of the background work to help progress clients’ claims and is a fountain of all knowledge when it comes to navigating the Ministry of Justice Portal, playing a vital role in overseeing the progress of claims in the early days.
Mansi is a Paralegal in the Personal Injury team in Leicester and assists solicitors and fee earners with a wide range of tasks in order to progress matters, including handling new enquiries, drafting legal documents, attending court and much more. Mansi graduated in 2023 with a law degree before joining Affinity Law in January 2025 and she is now currently undertaking her Legal Practice Course with a Masters in the hopes of qualifying as a solicitor. Mansi’s caring nature perfectly lends itself to personal injury work and helping victims of injuries that were no fault of their own.
Lucie joined Affinity Law in August 2022, working in the Catastrophic and Serious Injuries department. Shortly after, she transferred to the Clinical Negligence department, having always had a keen interest in this specialist area of law. Now a Litigation Executive/Trainee Solicitor, Lucie supports the progression of a wide range of clinical negligence matters, assisting with all aspects of the claim from start to finish. She is dedicated to guiding clients through some of the most challenging times in their lives and is committed to achieving the best possible outcomes for them. Lucie’s passion for this complex area of law combined with her commitment to helping clients has inspired her to pursue qualifying as a solicitor. She has successfully completed the Legal Practice Course and is due to qualify as a solicitor in March 2027.
Millie joined Affinity Law in February 2022 after working as a Dental Nurse and Dental Practice Manager for a number of years. During this time, Millie gained a wealth of knowledge and experience, including dealing with patient complaints from time to time. As a result of this, Millie became interested in clinical negligence and wanted to help people wherever and however possible. Currently working as a Litigation Executive, Millie deals with all types of clinical and dental negligence claims, ranging from complex birth injury cases to delayed diagnoses of cancer to negligent orthodontic treatment. Millie is planning to qualify as a solicitor and is currently undertaking her undergraduate degree part-time before sitting her Solicitors Qualifying Examination in the future.
Alicia joined the firm in February 2025 as a Paralegal in the Clinical Negligence department after graduating from Carleton University in Canada with a Bachelor of Arts Joint Honours (BA) degree in Human Rights & Social Justice and Law, and later a Batchelor of Law (LLB) degree from the University of Leicester. Alicia supports the department by being the first port of call for new client enquiries, corresponding with clients, instructing experts, drafting legal documents, liaising with defendants on pre-issue matters and managing the department’s limitation deadlines. Alicia is also the proud founder of the Affinity Law Book Club! Alicia says working in the Clinical Negligence department at Affinity Law feels deeply personal and rewarding, with every case being unique. She loves the client facing nature of the work and the structure of the law that she works under.
Ellie is a Clinical Negligence Paralegal whose role involves drafting documents to clients, healthcare professionals and medical experts, requesting records, preparing chronologies, liaising with medical experts to acquire opinions on clients’ cases and much more. Ellie joined Affinity Law in July 2025 after completing her law degree at the University of Leicester, where she took a particular interest in medical law, and hopes to begin her preparation for the Solicitors Qualifying Examination in the near future.
Nikki rejoined Affinity Law in November 2025 as a Paralegal in the firm’s Clinical Negligence department where she assists fee earners with a diverse range of clinical and medical negligence claims, from dental negligence and GP claims to birth injuries and delay of diagnosis claims. Nikki assists the team by preparing chronologies, liaising with experts, requesting reports and providing regular updates to clients. Nikki says she values the sense of fulfilment and satisfaction she gets in supporting clients and their families at such difficult times.
Weronika joined Affinity Law’s Clinical Negligence department in July 2025 where she has since worked as a Paralegal, playing a vital role in progressing clinical negligence claims of all varieties – whether that’s drafting legal documents, preparing chronologies, reviewing medical records or liaising with clients. Weronika says she chose to pursue a career in clinical negligence law as it allows her to combine her interest in both law and healthcare, whilst genuinely helping individuals who have suffered as a result of a medical negligence. She hopes to graduate from her Masters at De Monfort University in 2025 in readiness to sit her Solicitors Qualifying Examination.
Debra opened our Derby office in September 2018 where she has worked as a Solicitor since, specialising in high value catastrophic injury and complex brain injury claims. Debra has more than 25 years’ experience working in personal injury and has secured well over £35 million for her clients since then. More recently, Debra has been promoted to Assistant Director in recognition of her outstanding achievements. Alongside her work in personal injury, Debra also acts as a professional financial deputy appointed by the Court of Protection for clients who don’t have capacity to manage their own financial affairs. Debra is proud to be recognised as a specialist Head Injury Solicitor by the national charity Headway, and as an Accredited Brain Injury Specialist and Senior Litigator by the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers. Debra also dedicates much of her time to the Derby & District Law Society, where she acts as Deputy Vice President.
Abbey graduated from the University of Nottingham with a 2:1 degree in law in July 2022, before completing her Legal Practice Course and joining Affinity Law in July 2024. Abbey works as a Trainee Solicitor in the Catastrophic and Serious Injuries team at Derby, supporting a senior solicitor with the management and progression of cases. This includes making applications to the court, organising disclosure, preparing witness statements, instructing medical experts, liaising with clients and professionals, preparing chronologies and much more. Abbey says she enjoys the client-facing nature of her role as she is passionate about providing support to victims of serious injuries. Abbey is also the founder and former president of the 93% Club Nottingham, a society and charity focused on providing opportunities for state educated students.
Kulvinder has worked as a Legal Administrator and PA to Debra Morris since joining Affinity Law in July 2024 and brings with her a wealth of knowledge and experience having worked as a legal secretary for over 20 years. Kulvinder assists with day-to-day operations at the Derby office to ensure everything runs seamlessly – whether that’s welcoming guests, providing administrative support to fee earners or co-ordinating the Derby office’s recent move to Vernon Street! Kulvinder is often the first port of call for new enquiries and she takes great pride in advising clients with clarity and compassion. Kulvinder says she loves being part of a dedicated team that supports individuals during the most challenging and traumatic time of their lives.
Katie joined the firm and our property and affairs deputyship team in June 2021 and was recently appointed as Head of Court of Protection. Within her role, she oversees a caseload of complex deputy matters, carrying out day to day management of the files and reporting to the named deputy Debra Morris to ensure the smooth running of all deputy operations. Katie’s role involves making complex applications to the Court of Protection, reporting to the Office of the Public Guardian, preparing intricate budgets, considering investment proposals, preparing Best Interest Decisions, visiting clients and their families and much more. Katie loves the client facing and varied nature of Court of Protection work, and her ultimate goal is to help clients regain capacity wherever possible. Katie is currently studying for her Solicitors Qualifying Examination in the hopes of qualifying as a solicitor. Outside of work, Katie dedicates much of her time to the Derby Junior Lawyers where she serves as Vice President, as well as various charitable initiatives.
Brooke joined Affinity Law’s Derby office in November 2024 as a Legal Secretary before progressing to become a Paralegal in the Court of Protection department in January 2026. Brooke plays a crucial part in supporting solicitors and senior fee earners in the management of Court of Protection files, from client contact and reconciling accounts to reviewing rehabilitation notes and bank statements. Brooke excels in the client care she delivers as well as ensuring files and paperwork are well organised.
Diane was one of the first members of staff to join Affinity Law and oversees all the finances and accounts, a job she has diligently done since January 2009. Within Diane’s role as Finance Manager and the firm’s COFA (Compliance Officer for Finance and Administration), she is responsible for the finances for both Leicester and Derby offices, making payments to clients following successful settlements and reconciling various client accounts with large sums of money, as well as ensuring the firm’s regulatory requirements are adhered to. She prides herself in delivering smooth financial processes for both clients and colleagues alike.
Jayne is Affinity Law’s HR Director, working across both our Leicester and Derby offices. Jayne is a CIPD-qualified HR professional and has worked in HR and operational management roles throughout her career, across both the public and private sectors. For more than 20 years, she has run her own business focusing on leadership development, supporting people to grow in confidence, capability, and effectiveness in their roles. As HR Director, Jayne works closely alongside the directors of the firm and is involved in everything from hiring and career development to wellbeing and handling complex and sensitive issues. Jayne is passionate about creating workplaces where people feel supported, listened to, and able to do their best work. Her approach is practical, human, and grounded in experience, helping balance the needs of individuals with the long-term success of the firm.
